About this course
Khan Academy's classic organic chemistry playlist: about 70 videos of 5 to 15 minutes, drawn on a blackboard-style screen. It starts with representing organic structures and naming alkanes (alkyl groups, iso-, sec- and tert- prefixes, plenty of naming examples) and works through the standard first-year organic topics, ending with carboxylic acids and their derivatives (relative stability of amides, esters, anhydrides and acyl chlorides, amide formation) and the aldol reaction. It is especially useful for FSc part 2 and A Level students, and for MDCAT candidates who want reaction mechanisms explained slowly, one step at a time.
